cod4 can someone please help ?

when trying to play multiplayer the error code iw3mp.exe has stopped working keeps appearing, I have been on the activision website and apparently this is a common problem with the realtek sound card or something?
tried uninstalling the sound card like the website says but on start up it keeps re-installing.
I've also tried getting the latest software from dell, activision and realtek
any advice would be vvvv greatfully accepted !

I have Realtek HD onboard sound(well thats what it states) on a EVGA Nvidea 680sli m/board and the only problem i have had with the game was it would not load from desktop icon the multiplayer version when i 1st installed game,so i got into the multiplayer game from the single player icon,but since then its been loading from either icon(weird)it did crash to desktop once as well,i am well into the game now and its been fine since,probably not much use am i?not sure if the two things are connected to the Realtek driver or not,since then i have installed the patch,but must say game as been fine pre and post patch,good luck.
