Right here goes, bull by the horns and all that kind of thing.

I want and NEED to get into motorsport (at the lowest level) if I go to another event and think "if only" it's going to break me, I have bags of enthusiam and commitment and am looking for someone already in motorsport or someone like me who wants to get into it.

I'm located in Burton on Trent (oh crap this is starting to sound like a lonely hearts advert).

Not really fussed if it's sprinting (Curborough's very close), circuit racing, hill sprints as long as I do something.

Who's going to point me in the right direction? All and any suggestions are welcome.

why not try drag racing, it cost relatively little to get into teh sport, the atmousphere is great and theres not 32 other nutters trying to put you in the wall!....you can start doing test days where you can take your car up the strip as many times as you want for 20 quid and then move onto proper racing, check out www.rwyb.com for test day ideas

Contact Midlands Auto Club? When I did sprints at Curborough many moons ago they ran a lot of them. I'm sure they'll point you in the right direction. I found Sprints and Hill Climbs a lot of fun and a great place to start.

Good luck!

i think shenstone and district car club run curborough. for little over £1000 you could buy a road going car and the safety kit required to go sprinting. there are always interesting cars on ebay and you have until the start of the season to refresh some of the parts that need changing! there are always 205 gtis, mr2s etc, all good potential for some fun.

if you are doing it for fun, resign yourself to the fact that someone else will have more money and a greater will to win than you and you will enjoy it more.

Thanks for all the reponses so far seems that Sprinting might probably be the best option (on a cost and pratical point of view), just to throw the spanner into the works somebody has asked why I dont take up motocross (yes I know that thats motor bikes) which actually isnt a bad shout, just need to make sure that my medical insurance is up to date.
