PlanIT - Business Planning Software
Discussion
I know it should be obvious, but just to be clear - is this software for creating a Business Plan?
If it is, why do you need specific software for it?
If you have access to the basic MSOffice software you will be able to create a Business Plan.
The only additonal thing that would help is some templates and guidelines to give you the framework.
Most of the major banks offer free "Business Plan software" - which is often just a series of templates, or try your local Business Link, or search the web.
PM me if you get stuck.

When I went to the bank earlier this year for some funding they were impressed as I had done a business plan without using software. There are so many books and articles yes it takes a long time but you end up with a more original business plan document it's worth the time and you will get more respect than bowling up with a generic plan.
Thanks for that!
You're quite right - PlanIT is basically a series of excel style templates. As someone who has no experience of writing a business plan and no interest in accounting I felt it would be a useful tool. And it was. Until it stopped working.
We do have a friendly and experienced accountant who can help with the BP - but I'd already started writing one in PlanIT and have now lost the data. Back to square one!

VX Foxy- Business Planning isn't about the software, its the iterative process and the discipline to write down what you've thought through and to use a series of templates or models to articulate your ideas for logic and presentation
I undertake a lot of strategy work; its my job and you start with asking "what are you trying to achieve?" If you have purchased PlanIT then I would say that even if the software doesnt work it will have prompted and elicited a number of questions and for the purchase price alone that has got to represent good value, has it not? (though I can understand your frustration)
To help you on your way drop me a line and I'll gladly send some templates appropriate to what your trying to achieve ok?
Hope you don't mind a plug but....

Indeed, this was the strength of PlanIT; enabling a novice to cover all(most) of the bases without substantial accounting knowledge. Plug appreciated I'll have a look...
