Without a doubt, Falken 452s. Run these on the RS (as do loads of others on the RSOC) and they're wicked .... and inexpensive

I recently paid £310 Inc balancing/fitting/valves for 4 x 215/45/17 Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3's. I had to haggle for this price but I got it by going to tyretraders.co.uk and getting a price for the tyres to be DELIVERED to my door, and then contacting a local tyre fitter for a price on fitting the tyres. Which came to approx £320 all in. I then contacting selectatyre.co.uk who have a branch about 10miles from me, they claimed they could beat any price and in fairness they did...£310. As you can imagine I was very happy, their book price for 4 of the above tyres should have been just over £500.
Evo magazine used the ST170 for their 2002 Tyre Test and the F1s came out on top
Mine came with OEM ContiSportContacts which I ran for most of its life but changed to F1s towards the end and wish I'd done so earlier.
Much better grip, especially in winter. Only issue was slightly higher road noise and wear.

The steering really tugs on uneven roads now, which it never used to do with the el-cheapo no-brand tyres the previous owner had on there. Not sure its a reflection on the tyres, or if the tyre fitters messed the balance up. I should really take it up to WIM for a proper alignment, although its a tad pricey...
No complaints about grip from me, although they are noisy.
NO they aren't the dodgy not-suitable-for-europe Taiwanese goodyears (although they are made in china)
YES they got the directions right

Hi Guys,
I ran the eagle f1s on my previous A4, before changing to the focus (house move) and they where fantastic. The only ones available about 6mths ago where the asymetrical versions. When i was leaving the tyre depot i though i had been stroked as these versions do not have the V tred pattern and look like a standard stock tyre.
Brilliant tyre, although after 2 - 3 mths on the A4 and about 3k miles the tread was noticably lower, not sure how they would have lasted but this was on a car where i got 8k out of the original audi fit continentals........ one of the reasons for getting rid of the car!!
