Button was 2nd quickest in today's testing at Jerez

1 . N. Heidfeld - BMW Sauber F1.07 - 1:19.042 (+ 0.000 ) - 78 laps
2 . J. Button - Honda RA107 - 1:19.155 (+ 0.113 ) - 70 laps

A sure fire sign that the 2008 season will be yet another Honda disaster
Honda quick in pre season testing = slow in season racing wink

Although in 2006 pre-season testing they were quick and Button scored a win and lots of points. Last year they were slow in testing and they only scored 6 points. So your thinking is right, you've just got it the wrong way round wink

I would not worry for Button and Heidfeld were the only ones on Slick tyres as a test for Bridgestone.

Yep Button, Heidfeld and also Rossiter in the Aguri (another RA107 Honda) were running slicks for a session or two, the rest were on regular rubber. Not that anything can be drawn from the times anyway seeing as everyone is still obviously driving fundamenally 2007 spec cars, and we all know how much of a dog the Honda is.

If the new car is fast in February that's the time to get concerned biggrin

Yes the Honda and BMW were on slicks, but he was still very close to the BMW which he hadn't been able to get close to all year smile

Yep very true, and its encouraging to a degree, but I imagine there's a lot of guesswork involved with setup for such different tyres with no real track time to optimise the car to suit the tyres, so its possible the base setup of the Honda suits the tyres better or maybe Honda just guessed a bit better than BMW and lucked into a better setup.
