The central locking on my 94 car has stopped working. Solenoids not operating and hazzards not flashing when key is turned in door lock. Also the knob on the centre console is not working either. I have checked the 15A fuse which is ok and the indicators do flash. I have checked the rubber pieces on the doors that operate the interior light and they are ok, but they do not put the light out when the doors are closed? I am suspecting the relay which I believe is under the dash. Any thoughts appreciated.

Thanks AL, the thread has been of some help. I am not getting any voltage at the door solenoids and the fuse shown in the bible feeding the CDL is only live when the ignition is switched on. I would have thought that the fuse should be live all the time. Does anyone know for definite which fuse supplies the CDL.

I think you are going to have to take the dash top off. The CDL Control Unit and associated relays (Rist Relay Board) & fuses live in there - Yes, there is a seperate set of fuses with the CDL Unit and they are live without ignition being on.

I don't know if anyone has the wiring associated with CDL Unit, believe TVR have a black-hole as far as "early" Chimaeras and wiring goes anyway !! Even if you get at the CDL and replace fuses, I expect (from age) you may have to replace the CDL Unit complete - Mine is kaput, but I have not yet plucked up the courage to price a new one !! Alarm still works tho' !!

Good luck and please pass on any info you obtain on CDL !!

Cheers

P.S. Yopu said "..........they do not put the light out when the doors are closed? I am suspecting the relay which I believe is under the dash. Any thoughts appreciated."

This latter aspect is totally seperate to central Locking. If light is on and door is closed, Delay Relay at Passengers feet (shown in handbook - top right relay) will eventually extinguish interior light.

If the central locking module is just the normal 6 pin jobbie, let me know. Not hugely expensive.

See the above link for a link to reasonably priced relays for the central locking.

Sorry if I wasn't the one who initiated the question. My '93 Chim has the 16 pin Central Locking Unit which contains 6 (I believe) relays soldered onto a Circuit board (plus fuses)- I get the feeling that your "6-pin-jobbie" ain't what I have under my dash (oh-er misses). That's why I haven't persued purchase/replacement, yet !!

I think the early cars had a TVR developed relay control.

On a related note, is the roll-over protection switch also wired to the central locking as well as the fuel pump, ie once activated is it supposed to unlock the doors?

Got the dash off, only one bolt at N/S not two. Black plastic box has a TVR manufactured PCB with the relays protected by a 20*5 mm glass fuse. This looked intact, but on testing was duff, probably fatigue as the box was not velcroed down and could have been sliding about. Changed fuse and all working OK. Maplins have fuses, 0.79p each. Also changed faulty bulb in Tachometer whilst dash off.

Changed from Macone48 to K4TRV !!

So it was same as mine ? The 16 pin "box" ?? Well done anyway - you should have two bolts on near-side - if not suggest you "bond" new bolt to where it came off, will stop scuttle shake !!
