Hi,

have got a set - 6J x 15 front and 7j x 15 rear, of FH Compomotive split rims from the 80's that are surplus to requirements, they need cleaning and the centre's repainting but are straight with no kerbing or damage to the rims.

I have a vague idea of what they are worth, however before advertising them I wonder if anyone here can give me a better idea of the value.

thanks.

I think I still have three good spare 'outers'; I bent one when I span into the gravel at Zolder, at the corner where you were marshalling, Adrian.

Are they now made fron unobtainium?

Hi Colin,
new unit are made of unobtainium, that or purchase them S/H, Image will made the correct bolt hole patterned units (I think they have 20 holes) not cheap, but available, of course you would need to purchase 4 to get a matching set.

We now have the most expensive used TVR wheels in existance advertised on PH, and on e-bay with a high reserve. 850 quid is a very high price for a set of Alloy (not Magnesium or unobtainium) wheels requiring refurbishment.

800 would actually get very close to a new set from Image.

Just to clarify - I couldn't put 'offers' in the price box for the ad. so just put in an arbitrary number off the top of my head as no-one here had made any suggestions.

as I said before I'm not sure of the true value and am inviting offers, I've changed the price now so that no-one else gets the wrong impression.

But then they would be Image wheels, not Compomotive 3 piece split rims, I had to have made, for one of the SE Turbo's, ONE wheel centre piece (granted that they are 13 inch centres with stepped to 14 inch outers) made 5 years ago, and then it was 400 plus VAT.
I sort of wish him luck.....Adrian@

Thanks Adrian,

seems I've caused a bit of a stir! I don't expect them to get near that price just thought an outrageously high price would (obviously incorrectly) attract offers, but I could have just as easily put £200 and someone would get a bargain (probably) I'm just trying to get an honest price.

they also don't require total refurbishment, just a polish and the centre's repainting unfortunately my pics don't do them proper justice as I just pulled them out of the shed and snapped them!

Daftlad (John) was due to buy my 3000M which including the wheels but the sale fell through due to circumstances out of his control so I can appreciate his sentiment above.

Hi Andy/John
I was not party to that fact...I must add that John has got a nice piece of history to race with, something that he would not have with any other car. I did not realise you had sold/selling your car, anyway...it was one way to get the wheels noticed!.

Bought for £4,750 at 86,000 miles. Now worth about £5,000 at 88,000 miles.

So the more miles you do in a TVR the higher the value? .. ... funny!!
Hit the road, boys.

Ha - wrote that a good few years ago tongue in cheek, and at the time I recall somebody did indeed offer me £5000 for it, should have probably taken it as it failed the MOT about 6 months later and hasn't moved since!
