There seems to be a spate where burgerlers are pinging UPVC windows out at the moment and gaining access this way.

I would make sure that anyone reading this with UPVC windows checks the clearance on closing their windows, and when the catch actually hits the lock. Most systems are adjustable, but when the installers fit them they dont check the adjustment, as they are not paid to do this, and the factory's just slap them together.

The burgerlering scum know this, as are either hitting houses with externally beaded glazed windows, or poping the windows gain access. The police know the menthods, but I dont see any notification coming throught on NHW leaflets at the moment

Tis the time to be Merry, or in scum languange, tiz the time to be picking up free prezzies at 4-5 in the morning, so, everyone that reads this thread, please go home tonight and check your windows.

You can phone up the manifacturer, and get instructions on how to align the locks for better security, or obtain more securiy glass retainers for those that have externally glazes beading, which is usually the older type conservatory's.

Protect yourself from the potential breakins this Xmas.

Hope they find your car, safe and sound, run out of petrol in some street in London, this is what happened to a guy at work, and he had his back now...

Yep, the pins on the bottom of your door were not adjusted to be long enough, and they simply lift the bottom of the door, pull it out slightly, and then pull the top of the door down again and ping this out. Hey presto, door is open, no visilble signs of entry.

You can get spacers that fit on the frame, they are the packing spacers that are used when they deliver the door, that you can re-fix to stop this, or you will need to lengthen your pins, and drill holes in the UPVC to allow them to travel further. This should stop it happening again...

If you cannot get them, goto a glazier, and ask for the PVC glass spacers that are used to fix in the windows, and see what gap you have between the door and frame, and hard fix these in with some screws on the door side, this way they will not be visable when you use the door, but there is no longer any slack for the door to be lifted, and pinged out again.

Again, good luck finding the car, or a nice replacement from Insurance payout.

Mr F
