The manual says 63 litres but I haven't managed to get more than 52!

Does anyone have reliable confirmation of how big the fuel tank is in a T350?

I still haven't managed to get a clean fill-up yet! I get sprayed when I open the filler, sprayed when I take the nozzle out of the hole (oo-eer) and then the contents of the pump hose and nozzle poor all over me.

Mrs F - I've tried this but still seem to be missing something. Tried with the nozzle at 2 & 3 O'clock but still get wet (or at least I am standing out of the way now so the person on the pump opposite gets sprayed).

I guess I need some lessons - when you have filled your car, how many litres does it indicate on the display - I've not seen more than 52.

Assuming that the fuel tank is the same size as the one in my Tamora, then 52 seems about right. My readout always says 52 or 53 after it's been filled. I guess it's just a mistake in the manual - mine also says 63 litres.

I think on average Fish only puts in about 50 odd litres too.

As far as I know it is not highly recommended to completely empty a fuel tank since all the sh**e deposits are left at the bottom.
Often all these deposits move as soon as the fuel level reaches low level - often when light coming on - then can get in the fuel lines and block the injectors.

At least it happened to a mate of mine who could not start his car after having left it in the garage several weeks.

Not sure it can happen on TVRs though ...

I never let cars get that low - I always try and fill before the warning light comes on. The stress of running out of fuel in the middle of nowhere isn't worth the risk, the deposits in tanks and pipes as above, the risk of cat damage and potential engine overheats kind of encourage early stops.

I managed to get a completely clean fill last night. Basically a combination of the 3 O'Clock rule (inset nozzle and then turn to 3 (towards the T350 badge), not full pressure on the pump handle and probably the main one of not trying to actually fill the tank completely - especially as I now know that it doesn't actually take 60 odd litres of fuel!!!!

Also the petrol spray when opening the 'ball' doesn't seem to happen unless the inside of the ball contained petrol from the last fillup - a consequence of the tank pipe containing fuel.

Fear of filling now subsiding....

Well the new car arrived at 14:30 yesterday it needed a fill up by 10pm. Having read all the advice here, 3'oclock etc. I still managed to get a clean fill (thinking this is easy whats the big deal about) until the tank and pipe filled, pump on full and my feet get wet....

I think it's a case of work out how much you should be able to fit in and slow down the fill when you get anywhere close to that. My manual says 56 litres although others have suggested 52. Whats the capacity, anybody know?

Seems to be about 52 litres.

The one thing to watch, now you have filled the pipe into the tank with petrol and got it all over your feet and down the rear wing (get some wax on that wing asap to stop the petrol burn of the paint), is when you next open it - because it runs at such high pressure and it seems to trap excess petrol in the little 'ball' - it could very well spray when you next open it.
