Buying RS6, Any feedback out there..?

I'm very close to buying an RS6, does anyone have any reviews of the car, not to worried about economy, just wanting something that is quick and looks the part but needs to go long distances in major comfort. Also, prices of cars seem a bit variable with people selling for more than what parkers price guide says they should be worth.. any ideas why or am i miss reading the guide.?

If you do go for it make sure you get a very good warranty (audi if you can) you will need it.
To review how it drive's the gear box seems slow but can be chiped the steering feels dull but for a big tank if handles better than you would think. You will also get used to the power very quickly and it won't be long before your looking for upgrades.
I adore them - especially the Avant in Mugello Blue or Ebony.
Depending on how much you want to spend there is also a "Plus" model with 480 bhp.
The performance, even on the standard version, is devastating, especially when pulling off in the wet.
The rs246.com site is great. I think (someone correct me if I'm wrong) that the gearboxes sometimes aren't happy if the car has been chipped and can break.
I have also seen some Sprint Blue cars which I think look amazing, as they retain the "RS Blau" heritage from the RS2, but are perhaps not as discrete as Mugello or Ebony.

They're not a cheap car to run Fact. and nowadays it's 80 quid to fill it up for 350 miles if you're carefull 
Dave500, my car came from the same garage as yours and to be honest I had an immediate couple of serious issues that sould have been picked up.(front tyre had a bubble in the side wall the size of half a golf ball and failed rear brake calliper on the route home !!) They were sorted though (By a different Audi dealer under warrenty - took 6 weeks as well) lesson learned is to avoid that Audi dealership. One of my tyre pressure indicators doesn't work either. If you read 246.com it's a common thing. I turned it off and manually check now.
I've considered moving on over the last six months (fuel consumption mainly) but tend to change my mind after a hoon. I don't get to drive it every day though (wifes car
) so it's more of a pleasure thing when I do.
There's not a lot out there to compare really though. I can get all the family and associated crap in it with ease and I can also seriously bother Hampshire's finest Aston owners on any blast around the lanes
It'll be a tough call when I do move on though.........

TVR Man.. I had to sell my Tuscan 2 S because I now work away.. month away month at home.. didnt want to leave that sat in my car park for a whole month without moving. (Had plenty of offers to look after it though in my abscence..!
Need something that will be up to sitting in the elements.

Just found this thread so apologies for late posting. Had my RS6 for nearly 6 months/7,000 miles now and love it!! I also come from a past history of TVRs and have found the Audi to be a perfect daily-driver for a petrolhead with a love of V8s. The performance is simply staggering yet it starts everytime, Mrs JamieG drives it without angst from yours truly about where she is going to park the car up and ,if I wanted, to could lob our rather large hound in the back and go on hols with the family in it. Yes, it likes a drink and yes you need get one with a decent warranty but it really is an incredible piece of kit. I also found RS246.com a really helpful site but also post any questions on the tyresmoke website - they were really helpful when I was looking. Happy hunting - get one, you won't regret it! Jamie
