Since 'losing' our pet driver (changed jobs), we've been through a number of Wycombe Taxi companies, we use them for airport and station runs. They've all cocked up. How hard can it be?

- I was coming in from Boston (US) last Friday AM, 5 hrs delay due to weather. Taxi company had said they'd check the web etc. before coming to collect me. Had other half call them to make sure, they had no record of my booking or flight. FFS.
- This morning the other half was livid when the taxi (another firm) was waiting for 10 mins outside another house up the street (out of sight) at 7am.

I'm off to LHR at 05:30 tomorrow ... need to try another company.

Suggestions please. Ideally with decent cars and not sick-infested town stylee taxis with crap drivers.

If memory serves correctly Crown Taxi's are quite decent. Due to the name & shame policy I can't say which ones need to be avoided...

Try Penn Private Hire. I use them for LHR and they're reliable.

I have to go with Thames chauffeur Drive, they took me to and from LHR and were spot on in terms of service and appearance of both the drivers and the cars. thumbup

Thanks. Will try one of you/them next time.

Currently sitting in Stockholm twiddling my thumbs while BA fix 'a minor technical problem'. Right.

Edited to add: On the way to LHR at 05:30 this morning (you know, stupid o'clock) the friggin' taxi driver had to stop to refuel ... plus the fuel station was out of diesel. Grr.

I think £25-30 from Penn to LHR depending upon which terminal. I reclaim from my company, so can't recall completely. My caveat is that they seem to have quite 'right of centre' views (which I find distasteful), however when I used a couple of the usual firms in Beaconsfield they arrived late both at my house and at LHR for the trip home, and the drivers had the heating turned up to max, despite wearing hats and coats. It would seem that no-one is perfect.
