Just posted this on SN but thought it would be of use here

Just come back from dropping my nipper home...

A27 Havant from the end of the Chichester bypass, to the A3m turning now has the poles in place for SPECS camera system. ( E-W )

It also runs from the exit of the A3m to the start of the A27 Chichester bypass (W-E)

These poles weren't there Friday !!!!

Speed limit is currently NSL but watch it get dropped!!!

dont know when it will go live, but be warned

No doubt it will make a mint come the festival of speed next year

do you mean the long LONG section of DC that has no junctions/exits?

That would be a shame, as I have occasionally approached the NSL on that stretch.

Its the section just as you finish the chi bypass --- E-W to the start of the A3M or W-E as you leave the A3M and head toward chichester .

Sure they're not the newest Trafficmaster installations updating the old blue boxes rather than a specs system.

ETA: s'not here...

Also, does anyone actually know anyone who's managed to get a ticket from a Specs system?

Had another look this morning and they're only between the Havant slip road and the A3 exit, in both directions. 3 sets in total, none on the fast section between Havant and the begining of the Chichister bypass. Seems a bizarre place to put speed cameras as due to the volume of traffic it's nigh on impossible to speed on that bit anyway.

Are you sure they are SPECS? I regularly drive that stretch and have yet to see any new roadside furniture apart from the new gantries that they have just finished putting up.

Which way are we talking about? I can’t view the links so not sure which stretch we are talking about. Is this the road between Portsmouth to the turn off at Bedhampton (bowlplex) or are we talking about them being positioned further up between Havant and Chi?

TBH the road between Havant and chi is ridiculous fast sometimes and you find yourself being swept away at 100 million leptons at second so easily. I travel between Petersfield area and Fareham daily if that helps anyone able to tell me whether I maybe affected?

I remember seeing yellow poles somewhere yesterday just cant remember off the top of my head where?

So yes, i just thought instead of Specs they might put the cameras in the gantries instead.....

Oh well backroad driving it is then.... wink

Between Havant and the A3 junction in both directions on the A27. Due to the nature of that piece of road at rush hour I'd have thought they'd more likely be traffic cameras......though they look pretty sinister whatever they are!

Drove down there today. They are just CCTV cameras, not SPECS.

If they are big yellow 3 patr units big centre twoo little pods one on each side then they are specs. Best solution is to buy a pogodrive or pogo which will tell you of every camera.

From January to March 2008 the work will move to the central reservation and will take place 24 hours a day, with narrow lane running in both directions and continuing occasional overnight lane closures.
