Now I know we have known about this project (http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/autoexpressnews/214005/ford_focus.html ) for a while but I was happily suprised to read that it will boast 400 nm torque. NICE
What are the chances we will see a 4x4 system?

Subaru have dropped a testiclé with the new Impreza, and the Mitzi just kinda seems 'old' and it's presence is waning in the market. A decent Focus in 2009 could see itself in the right niche at the right time.

REF FOCUS RS 2009...scooby/evo fans should be worried...i agree the new evo looks old all ready, and the new impreza is an aquired taste, the 2009 focus looks brill!!aggresive and modern, think 4 wheel drive is not desperatly important as ford use that clever diff that puts power to all 4 wheels if needed,4 wheel drive is fine in certain situations, but most of thetime it is not,how many f1 cars have it?? cant wait to see the final version we can all buy in 2009.add to that the already famed focus (of any age)ride/handling..should be a winner.
That certainly would be a clever diff without a propshaft! I think you'll find F1 rules won't allow 4wd, and the two wheels that are driven are at the right end to benefit from theweight transfer under acceleration ...This is all good stuff them building an RS but when will theybuild a Diesel ST??? The Focus range has been crying out for one for ages!!

I dont want to defect from the Ford brand (sad i know) but ill end up with something else if they dont bring out something to better what i have already

The last I heard was that engineers were investigating it, bit not decision had been made. With Fords WRC success over the last few years, I think they could get away with charging a bit more as long as it is 4WD.In case you haven't seen this is General Gassing:

Seems we won't get the 4WD after all.
