Well, actually this is to whomever can answer. This is a spectators query, not a complaint as such smile

Three things:

1: Why won't Britcar becoming to Oulton Park in 2008? I've always understood it to be a drivers track and a particular favourite of fans and drivers alike (and yes, I'm biased because I live close to it biggrin).

2: Why are so many tracks repeated (Silverstone and Snetterton twice, Brands three times although admittedly 2 different versions)

3: Why do so many dates clash with the BGT? (March 22nd, August 17th, Sept 21st)

Once again, this isn't a critism. I would genuinely like to know the answers. Personally, I wanted to take a greater interest in the Britcar series this year, especially since I'm doing some design work for at least one of the teams. Unfortunately, I'm limited in how far I can travel and so was disappointed not to see my home track being used this year. From a drivers point of view, I know a number of drivers like to take part in both series, but may find their options severely limited if they want to actively pursue points in both championships. I already know of one top team that have decided to concentrate on the BGT this year and enter maybe a couple of the Britcar races. (Although now the 24 Hr race clashes with the BGT final round, who knows what will happen.)

Please excuse any dumb ignorance on my part for the above questions. I'm an eager spectator and love working with the teams, but I have to admit that I'm not a 'know-all' when it comes to the sport and the possible reasons behind the decisions.

Oh, and I'd better point out that I'm not saying its your's or anyone else's fault withing the Britacr organisation. I just would like to hear your thoughts on the matter please.

Thanks biggrin

Traditionally I think the EERC has always struggled a bit to get teams up to Oulton Park. The shandy drinkers from down south are spoiled a bit in terms of how far they normally have to travel. Those from oop north know they are going to have to travel and so put in the effort to come south. There may also be more southern based competitors.

The EERC has obviously managed to get good slots at favorable rates (well as favorable as is possible in the UK) to race at those circuits). Garages, noise restrictions, access will all play their part as will the ability to attract support races to put some pennies back in the pot.

British GT & the EERC are two separate companies who compete against each other for clients. Each will probably look after their own calenders and leave it to the other to decide if they want to move dates. Other than the 24 hour race which is very hard to move there probably isn`t as much cross over as you`d think. This year Britcar will end up with a full entry of teams competing for the championship and entering every event. Teams wanting to dip into the odd event or use Britcar as a test, to trail new drivers or to rent seats out for additional revenue aren`t going to be forefront in the EERC`s mind when planning it`s meetings.

Hope that helps.

Henry

There are many conflicting events during a season and it would be almost impossible to aviod such doubling up. If it`s not British GT it`s BTCC, Le Mans endurance, A1 GP, F3, F1, to name but a few.
