new computer / laptop
Discussion
Some help from the PH Collective if I may!
I have a Acer Travelmate, about 6 months old. It is very good for what it is.
I also run a six year old MESH computer for graphics at work, running Adobe CS2.3.
I haven't tried using the laptop for graphics, as I have wanted to keep it for office work mainly, and for when I am around at people's houses where I can make full use of their WLAN.
The PC isn't portable as such, and sometimes I wonder if the RAM is playing up, and the graphics card doesn't always cope with Illustrator and P/Shop open at the same time, when working with images.
What are my options? I could give my laptop to my wife for use at home, and get a laptop which would need to deal with the graphics side, work side (Office is a must) and music editing. Then I could only use the graphics PC as a back-up, or move it to my Derbyshire office.
Or do I just get another graphics PC, if so, what? I don't really need the sound card side as it will be at work. I would love to have it at home, but my mini-studio is at work, and the wife won't have it at home!
Any thoughts or solutions? It will be bought as a part of a finance package at work as we are updating our server and accounting package.
TIA
