Hi everyone,
I'm thinking about selling the 911 (again!) and getting something else - an occasional use car, suitable for our various breakfast runs, weekend trips, the odd european jaunt, and so on. As some of you know i have been thinking along the lines of Gallardo (more money than i'd like to spend really), Morgan Aero 8 (resale?), Ultima (too raw for long trips), Cobra (sunny days only), etc.

Good for long trips, reliable, good performance, not going to depreciate like a stone, not too heavy... so given a theoretical spend of up to £45k what could i get?

1. 911 GT3
2. Morgan Aero 8
3. BMW M coupé
4. Another Chimaera
5. AMG CLK55
6. SL500 (old shape)
7.

Not too keen on the Z4 M coupé, think i'd go for the cab version.

Wanted a 550 until a drove one John - big anti-climax, my favourite recent Fezza (i.e. post F40). Same day i drove a 348 and 355, again bitterly disappointed.

Anyone got any weird and wonderful suggestions? I'd love to have bought a Marcos TSO but i'm guessing very few (if any) were made?

How do the Masserati 3200s rate?

I remember you being rather keen on a Gallardo for sometime but obviously its over budget and the cost of a new clutch would be a quarter of your original budget! hehe

SLK55 AMG?
M5 V10?

Oh, and just out of interest (not because i'd be interested at all, honest) what do you reckon you'd sell the 993 for? (not that id ever consider an air cooled 911 you understand, and not that im desperate to get back in a Porsche or anything..)

Older RS4 too understeery, newer one is bad value compared to RS6.
Hmmm, RS6... one car to do it all...

Bit lardy and not the same kind of beastie as the new RS4 in my humble opinion.

M5... they must be getting down there, how about M6 (again an assumption)... Vantage, shouldn't have the same gastly costs as the lambo (doubt it would meet the budget though).

^^^^ always a good suggestion wink You needn't spend that much for a good one, but the later cars are very desirable. If not, the 996GT3 is fantastic thumbup

I definatly like the idea of the V10 M5/M6, especially since prices have dropped.

I doubt the new S5 is really your cup of tea either? (I would much rather have the RS4 myself)

How about this random number? http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/316379.htm
