Shame they didn't train specialists to spot the knives clipped to the 9-11 terrorists' belts
Was under the impression that the weapons had been pre-positioned......

If we're comparing flea-hole airports, I wouldn't even send Brunsturnfuhrer to Djibouti-Ambouli Airport ... no, on second thoughts, I would - Streaky

think delhi would be excellent compared to the "airport" at AL-Khobar in saudi, or very near that town, lots of male customs agents insisiting on a personal search, never got one, just spent hours going thru the luggage, eg some CD with strawberries on it, reasoning went girls like strawberries so it must be girls, admittedly it was shrink wrapped and the fliers did have naked women on it, but that was a nice surprise in sandland smile
Al-khobar/Dharan remember it well, i was able to get through a Stephen King book while waiting to clear customs and immigration.read

I remember seeing at least one cctv image of one of them boarding at Boston, with a knife clipped to his belt.

Too true arrive back in the UK from anywhere and the airport you left from will have felt more friendly and more cared for,
Not if you've just flown in from Philadelphia.

We've given up on Gatwick and Heathrow and are fed up with Stansted. Daughter now lives outside Dublin and we fly from DSA, (Doncaster Sheffield), or Robin Hood as it's know - it's nowhere near Sheffield. It's like going back 50 years and even the Ryanair staff smile. Cracking place and not part of the shopping mall BAA set-up.

I know just how you feel. Birmingham still isn't too bad, but East Midlands (Nottingham) is still wonderful in that it's small, you can walk from car to terminal, and it's quiet. I understand Coventry's ok too but I've not tried it.

In short, it seems that the smaller the airport the better. I've enjoyed so many out-of-the-way European airports over the last few years. They're generally quick, efficient, and also spacious and lined in marble. Just how can they find the money? EU subsidies perhaps?

So in other words they have specially trained operatives looking out for people with a middle eastern expression on their face.... brilliant.

I'm not a security expert but don't you need a little more than terrorist intent? A gun, meat cleaver or bomb may also be needed. Maybe they should employ more operatives to detect those....
