Hi Everyone,
Practical Performance Car magazine (www.ppcmag.co.uk) is doing seven-page buyers’ guide on the pre-90 Porsche 911 Turbo, so we’re looking for a car to photograph in our studio.
If you’ve got a clean 911 that’s not white or silver (colours that don’t tend to work well in the studio) and would be up for having it studio shot and in the mag with a full set of the professional photographs sent to you, please get in touch with me as soon as possible. My E-mail address is ed@ppcmag.co.uk.
The studio is in Derby and the photoshoot would need to be within the next couple of weeks. Thanks in advance.

Regards, Ed Hall

I fail on 2 counts. Not old enough and the wrong colour. (The car, not me....)

I have a Guards Red '79 (black stone-chip protectors, Fuchs alloys, and standard 'Tea Tray' rear wing) and I'm in Nottingham. However, the engine is not in the car at the present, so I'm not going to be any help to you..

I wrote a similar reply to the Porsche Club upon release of the 997tt, when the Porsche Centres got in contact to try to secure the services of some early 911 turbos (for display purposes). Back then, my car was awaiting a gearbox repair!

Gather you use the car for the 6 months April-October? Seems a sensible thing to do. (Far too much grit and unintentional 'sideways action' this time of year.)

Is your car modified? I'll bet that Ed was expecting some kind of concourse winner, anyhow.

NO its stock as it is my running cost would be to high to run it all year round its for the summer and loads of car shows .Plus I work away a lot .
Which the family and I go to each year .
Took me four years to find it after looking at so much junk and all wanting silly money.

Do cars really like being laid up for 6 months a year?

What do you do to make sure its ok?

Its a shame you only get half useage of your dream - had two dry weekends in a row now and the RS has been blasting off the cobwebs nicely....looks nice and dirty in the garage at the mo and its grinning with the thought of more dry weather to come and track days starting in earnest.

Well, sorry to bitch about it, but I can assure you that had the 'specialists' I've taken my old, red bus to done an 'average job' - I'd have done considerably more miles than I have in the 6 years of ownership..

Well I work away a lot when its off the road I do a few jobs on it.
Just finished the underneath with POR15, DINTROL on the car .Replacing the oil cooler pipes removing twenty years of mud with a jet wash took time as well.

Start the car up get the temp on the car going etc.

Hmm, in fact - is there a person attached or is it being driven by "Thing" from the Addams Family?

^re: the hand position..

..that's the daft thing though..those shots are taken travelling pretty slowly.. i bet he didn't know what to do with himself driving along a country road at 30mph (or whatever)...

..love the shot in front of the garage door - fantastic.
