yeah very good wattsie hehe

I'm sad to hear it though, i always enjoyed watching the Dakar.

Bikes - Superb to watch, riders have balls of steel!

Cars - Must be hugely frustrating when forced to dig them out the sand but again great to watch.

Trucks - My favourites! How they make it across the sand is beyond belief sometimes.

Yes well, outrunning an old rusty RPG, and dodging bullets from a chinese AK-47 is a challenge. Even in a Bowler Nemesis...

Potential solutions to Dakar Terrorist problem:

1. All cars should be equipped with machinegun turrets.

2. Use military prototype vehicles instead of those pansy buggies.

3. "Invite" the terrorists to race too! Then use the new machinegun turrets and military prototypes on them. biggrin

Like you say your mate must be gutted. The Nemesis is a serious bit of kit, I've just had a look at this on YouTube.

Who's that then Al Qaeda or the Lying F*ckers who started this illegal war? as far as I am aware we had no terrorist threats in the UK before we attacked Afghanistan.

Cannot really blame them for retaliating (point of principle)
Can't see the taliban allowing you or anybody else to talk or object to anything once they achieve their aim of a worldwide islamic state, women with bags on their heads, not allowed to even be educated, innocent victims whipped for being raped, beheaded for calling a teddy mohammed, worldwide riots for cartoons that Allah didn't dislike enough to personally intervene about etc etc, I think this rather complex issue is going to provoke more and more antipathy against islam, and although the west is pretty guilty, extreme islam is a pretty unpleasant thought. Big shame that the Dakar is off, bigger shame that people are still dying for forgotten causes.

Bastards.

I'd just got my Sky package upgraded to include Eurosport for the coverage too!

Damn you Al Qaeda and all your pesky terrorist mates, bombing out airports is one thing but messing about with motorsport is a step too far hehe

Rumour has it nobody took up AlQaeda's offer of sponsorship."Bin Laden rules OK" on the side of any car would not go down well with the NSA spy satellites.

They satrted it, they crashed 3 planes and knocked down two towers IIRC.
Some of the victims of which were Brits.

IAC how does that relate to threatening events like the Dakar which is organised by the French, who, IIRC were against the war anyway!

But the war thing is still Bush and BLiars up.

Those Al Qaeda ragheads would have been better employed making their threats against Maximillion Cooper and his ridiculous Charley-fuelled Scumball rally

I think we have all overlooked the obvious technoloigcal solution. It's not guns we need mounted on the roof that the participants need, but rather the rally vehicles should all be equipped like a French tank, with one forward and six reverse gears, so as to beat a hasty retreat from even the slightest whif of conflict! I'm sure Renault Skunkwerks has one in development for just such an outbreak of blustery threats. I'm sure the Minister of Unkind Words will send a respectful if slightly aloof letter to the terrorists expressing not onliy indignant outrage, but also offering to resume collaboration talks, if the saving of Paris can be secured.

Four whole tourists died? We should close the continent! Didn't they lose several times that many people the last time it got warm in Paris when they locked all their elderly inside and went on Holiday? Perhaps we should also cancel Summer...

On another note, I know this is not a place for classified ads, but I am trying to move several WWII vintage French Rifles, Mint condition, never fired, only dropped once! Contact me if you are interested.

Cheese Eating Surrender Monkeys running away from the slight chance of a fight is news how....?

They do make such bloody good cheese though...

Sad as hell for viewers, but mainly participants. They have to be crushed!

Watching Eurosport coverage a lot of the competitors are saying they doubt the Dakar will ever be run again frown

That said, with the Haymarket based financial clout of PH nowadays maybe if the ASO don't run the Dakar in 2009 we could have a PH Dakar hehe

The privateers seem well up for carrying on, I am sure we could round up enough members daft enough to have a go, I fancy a Kamaz truck, or one of the old Perlini fire engines that used to race smile

Just another example of how we are handing them victories on a silver platter.

Whatever happened to not letting them change our way of life.
