G4 Insurance... Who do you use?
Discussion
Just had a quote from AON for a couple of different options on the G4 and was rather surprised.
Having just had my Lotus Exige insured with then as a second car for S&D only and used only as a second car for pleasure, with an estimated average of upto 10,000 miles a year. I have a full 10 years no claims and a clean licence. The car would spends most of the year in a garage that has dead bolts and a monitored alarm system.
They wanted just as much but for the G4 but restricted to a maximum of 5000 miles.
So for half the risk and mileage in a car that is no faster on the road than the Exige, They want as much for the same value of car.
Even on a second hand car with much less value it is not much better with even less risk.
When asked why they say that we don't take no claims in to account when quoting...
So I was wondering who you guys use?

I use Competition Car Insurance - they take it on the basis that I use the car for sprints and hillclimbs.
I changed because the dorks I used before had a clause in the small print to say that the comprehensive cover only applied if the car was locked when left unattended. The G4 does not have door locks.....

AON prob wouldn't know what a G4 is? Try others - Heritage advertise in GOC mag but they have restrictions. Adrian Flux will know what a G4 is straight away, try them.
I have heard some will insure a 'Ginetta G4' but not a 'Dare G4', mad!
If you have plenty of no claims, clean lic, etc you should not be paying same as Exige!

Hagerty Classic insurance..
class the DARE/Ginetta G4 as a classic.-despite age.
3000 miles, garaged, immobiliser, 6points on license: £300.00
they also agree a value with you for the car and dont base it on market value.
Can also have more than one car on the policy-- old or new (as long as its sports etc)

geeman's quotes much nearer the mark.
Snapper7 you are being ripped off!
Shop around.
and if you are quoting mileage related, start with high figure first, say how much for 10,000 miles a year, then keep bringing it down and asking how much that knocks off premium (you'll probably find it's hardly anything so might as well have higher miles).
