great news got my license bak today and i cudnt resist takin by baby for spin (even though she not running right due to fitting a stage 1 recently and havent replaced the needle yet.) as soon as it struck 00:00am this morning i was off. i started her up to the shock of all my neibours who thought there was a plane taking of outside thier house(hehehe). Unfortunatly for them because shes running a bit lean so i had to give her a few more revs to get her going. It felt awsome regardless of the spluttering and an occasional bak fire, i had the window down, wind in my hair listening to Queens DONT STOP ME NOW (wot a loser) but it was great.
I only took her on a short run for obvious reasons but still got my 1st driving fix in 12mnths. Shes booked in at 9:30 in the morning (tomora) to go on the rolling road and hopfully get sorted, and from there im booked into Ashley exhaust performance garage in walsall so his team can fit my system properly due to a few problems i had fitting it i.e doesnt sit center and as its a center exit it should. i think hes going to put anutha bend in it and also make changes to the manifold flanges as they are thinner than flanges on my inlet and wont clamp down together. john ashley was great he appoligised and offered to sort it free of charge which is quite exiciting for me knowing ive got a proffessional fit by the guys that made it for me. i will get footage of my dyno run and exhaust fit, im looking forward to see what bhp and torque she has, not to forget the noise she is going to make on the dyno, so fingers crossed tomoro is going to be a great day. wish me luck....neale..

It would have made more sense to sort the exhaust before the rolling road! Good luck getting it sorted.

got my exhaust to stop blowing for the rolling road today, he rigged his computers up to the car done nessecery adjustments to carb, timed it in, swapped and changed the needle a few times, gained me a bit more bhp i was a happy man, BUT on the way to Ashley performance center i found that i still have a flat spot between 2000 and 3000rmps which makes it a right bitch to pull off in each gear, to get it to go i have to floor it to past the flat spot then it clears and takes off, this happens in every gear, has anybody got got any ideas what this may be and should this have been sorted on the rolling road. It cost me £100 for the hour that i was there which has really pissed me off cus i took it there to get it runnig properly but i see no real improvment. HELP PLEASE ANYONE IM DESPRATE AND SAD.. Thanx in advance for any help given..

If your needle is/was causing this flat spot then the rolling road operator should have picked it up and fixed it. If it was/is being caused by something else he should at least have had the experience to have told you what the problem was.

Seeing as how much you paid for the test i would be inclined to take it back and tell them that there is a problem after their adjustment and you want it sorted. After all thats why you took it there in the first place, isn't it?

i figured out the problem and i cant believe the dumbass who tested it didnt even pick up on NO OIL IN DASHPOT im really pissed about the fact that it was tuned up with a flat spot upto 3500rpm, it was peeking at 4500rmp but the craziest thing is you can see the flatspot on my print out which you can see on the torque graph in the pic below. The flat spot has now gone thanks to a thimble full of oil, now the problem is she seems to be running really flat i.e its a 1275cc with a stage1 which shud be pretty nippy gutpicks up speed real slow till 3k then picks up a little better to 5k, but on accelaration the cone filter sound like its taking in buket loads of air and the sound drains out half of the engine noise. i know they take a lot of air in but does this sound right to anyone. She also doesnt like doing 55mph, now i know this sound mad n stupid to say but if i build up to 60 mph in 4th and the slow dont a little to 55mph she judders i can hold it at 45-50 no problem but but she dont seem smooth after 55 unless opened right up but will be ok at 70. i think it needs tuning again but somewhere else. im in birmingham, does anybody recomend a tuning garage that is reasonably close to brum as i dont think they knew wot to do.
