Midlands Breakfast Club - Sunday 3rd February 2008
Thanks to everyone that has come along to the last 3 Midlands Breakfast Club meets! They've proved to be a great success and it's nice to see a good variety of Classic, Retro, Sports and Performance cars.
As most will have read or maybe heard, we are moving to the RAF Museum at Cosford.
The museum has a little more to offer than an Industrial Estate in Staffordshire and has something for all the family. We've been in talks with the Museum and their caterers who will be opening up earlier than normal to do "breakfast" baps, teas and coffees. I can't promise you'll get them as cheap and the bacon probably won't be as thick, but look at it this way, you get to go round the whole museum and see lot's of cars as well for nothing!
We must emphasise that the RAF Museum have been good enough to have us there (again!!) and we would like to show them some thanks and respect by driving in a safe manner whilst there, and now showboating, donuts or burnouts as there's plenty of Maccy D's car parks to do that kind of thing!!
Full address is:
RAF Museum Cosford
Shifnal
Shropshire, TF11 8UP
Full details of facilities avaible at the Museum can be found here
By Road
Cosford is centrally located with good motorway access from the M6 southbound (Junction 12) via the A5, one mile from junction 3 on the M54 for northbound travellers. The Museum is only thirty minutes from the centre of Birmingham and ten minutes from Telford. We have a large free car park on site.
* On A41, less than 1 mile from junction 3 on the M54
* From the south leave M6 at junction 10a
* From the north leave M6 at junction 12 and follow A5 west
Hope to see you there!!

Mrs M is part of air traffic control at Cosford, and - as such - has access to the crash gate entrances.
Would anyone be interested in gaining access to the taxiways / roads around the airfield? It would have to be a weekend though. And I'd have to clear it with the steering committee.......

Can anyone attend or do you have to pay some entrance fee somewhere?
Cheers
anyone and everyone (although we don't really want boy racers attending!!)
We've just finalised dates with Cosford for the rest of the year as well.
It's is completely free, just turn up and park up!!
I'll do a full thread in a while in the Midlands area and one in general gassing as well!
We're trying to get along a good variety of sports, classic, performance and retro cars.
There is no fee, no agenda, all we ask is that you bring a car that we can perv over, or you come a long to perv over plenty of other nice cars!!! Seems like a good idea really! I'm in!

Might have a drive up from Worcester, might be a few local VWs of various types up for it too.
Hopefully my old Golf is classed more of a 'racer' not 'boy racer'

I would think a VR6 engined Mk2 like yours is defintely an interesting car Hopefully my old Golf is classed more of a 'racer' not 'boy racer'

Been over to the RAF Museum this morning and sorted out a few details for the meets with the Marketing Staff. Must say, it's changed a fair bit over the past few years and the Cold War museum is stunning!! The venue itself is ideal.
We will be parking up in between the new Cold War Museum building and Hangers 2 & 3.
This is the parking area here with the Cold War Museum to the left:

There are marked parking space for around 80 cars and you could easily fit double that in the area that we have been allowed, plus there's an area down the bottom for 250+ cars as well.

This is also right next to the entrance to the main Cold War exhibition which in itself is mindblowing and well worth the visit!

This is what you can expect to see inside the Cold War Museum:
everything from Migs to Missiles, a Green Goddess and some cars )inclduing a Bug and a Trabbie, and a piece of the Berlin Wall!

Right opposite where we will be parking up is the Main Visitors centre and Cafe area.

Here's the Cafe area where you can grab your breakfast!

Plenty of seating side should you wish to grab a bite to eat and get some shelter from the weather!

We have come up with a combo deal for people coming to the Breakfast Club with the Catering company there. They will be doing either a Bacon or Sausage Bap served with a choice of tea of fresh ground coffee for £3.00.
It's not as cheap as what we have sold it in the past, but they have far greater overheads, and look at it this way, you get to look around one of the best Air Museums in the world whilst your at it for no charge at all!
and there are many places there where you can take some superb pictures!
I got a bit snap happy this morning as well!

Looking forward to seeing you there!!
