It appears my Clio Williams has developed a funny noise over night (probably in a strop over being left outside for the first time in years!). It seems to be coming from the drivers side front corner and can only be described as a "chugga-chugga" kind of sound. It increases in frequency with speed too. Initially I suspected a puncture, but the tyre is fine.

Having done 150 miles yesterday, I'd have thought everything would be shaken out, but apparently not! Does anyone have any thoughts as to what's causing it? Damper?

Thanks in advance.

Have you inspected the tyre on that corner? Could be something big stuck in it.

My mum described something similar and when I had a look there was a little finger sized bolt in iteek

Good idea - I'll have a look a bit later...

Hmmm... at about 70mph on the M40 on Wednesday there was a loud clattering, two bangs and then the noise stopped. The car was fine for the remaining 20 miles of my journey so I presume whatever component it was that dropped off wasn't vital!
