Hi, back from my first rally in umpteen years and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Guess we would have been about fifth but for a moments brainfade from an otherwise inch/second perfect navigator but thats life. Poor guy had to put up with an old person with short term memory loss on the driving tests so thats even I guess. Problems before the event included a last minute brake light failure, Alan at Sunderland Mini Centre to the rescue there, thanks.

Now for the questions:
Dipsticks, are the 1275 and 998 ones the same length to the max/min marks?
Can you remove and replace the timing case with the engine in the car. The guy who supplied the brake light switch seemed to think you could but not so sure.

Reason: I seem to have a huge oil leak from that end of the car but only down to the "min" mark then it seems to stop.

Happy New year all

I've changed a timing chain without removing the engine so I'd say yes.

Anyone got a tape measure to give me the dimension from the marks back up to the stop on a 1275?
