over the past few days the rev counter has started to twitch about...At idle it jumps up to 1100 rpm momentarily the back to 800rpm. At speed it can wander from 2500 to 300 rpm. The engine note does not appear to change and the seems to be pulling OK

any ideas anyone?

I've not experienced this on a TVR, but I did on another car. I assume most rev counters work in a similar way though, so this might help.

The rev counter was connected to the distributor with a multi-plug. I un plugged it and gave it a bit of a clean, and it never happened again. Like I say, it wasn't on a TVR, and I must admit, I've never looked closely at the distributor on my Griff, so I don't know if it works in the same way, but it may be worth a look.

Hope this helps,

Dan.

Dear Mr Wheeler,

It has come to my attention that some of your cars are fitted with erotic dials. I would be very interested in licensing this technology from your company.

Yours,

Mr P Stringfellow.

Simon,

Do you have Steve Heaths Book??
There is a good piece in there about the Rev Counter.
could be down to dirty/faulty connections as said before.
