I want to install a CD multichanger in my 98 4.0 Chim. The previous owner had one in but removed it; 4 screw holes in the bulkhead above the tank! Removing the cover in the top of the boot above the tank reveals the connection cables kindly left there.

Also running along this bulkhead are wires covered by a braid. At each side of the tank there are two ends appearing from the braid with female spade connectors. Are these speaker cables for rear speakers, not currently installed, vents are there. If they are not speaker cables does anybody know what are they?

They could be rear speaker cables. It seems some cars have them and some do not. Some have them and they stop in the passenger door access compartment, and I have heard of others that are routed to above the tank.

The braided one I would guess is something todo with the fuel system, fuel line maybe, but do not quote me on that.

Thanks David
The braided wires with the female spades are not connected to anything.

Standard speaker spade connector pairs are usually one large and one small sized. Does this descrption match what you have found? If yes, I would be reasonably confident that they are spare rear speaker wires.
