I used to be a mini owner and i had quite a little gem, Bascially i was "gifted" a 50% complete 1971cooper S, twin tanks, a 1071cc Twin SU Engine, cannot remember if it was orignal engine.... But i spent my gap year rebuilding it.

I sanded back all the panels that where salvagable and did two weeks of removals for a person i knew who fitted and sprayed the shell. Flame red, black roof, deeseamed front and rear, waxoiled everything else, in the interim i built in the garage with my old man and pretty special engine.... 1293cc (20tho over bore), 1:5 high lift rockers, stage 4 minispeed head, 286 kent road race cam, twin 1.75" SU'S on a mini play exhaust, trumpet sounded, uprated fuel pump, balanced, nitrited crank, oil cooler, custom cold air intake, 5 speed box, straight cut drops, rose jointed top and bottom arms, free floating rear wheels, (no sub frame) uprated bushes and spax coil overs wizard of nos 40bhpkit, on 11"x6.5" revolutions, cooper S 7.1" ? disks gutted rear with full race harnes, all alloy rollcage..... can't remember the rest,

I do know that when put on the rolling road at mini speed it put 118.2bhp on the road with 133bhp at crank.... christ it was fast and it revved like , i think i got pulled doing 108mph up a hill and was let off as the cop was so impressed......

I wish i still had it... sold it for five grand to a bloke who owned a scoobie, after trying to keep intouch with me down 15miles of back roads, he got out of his car visable sweating, to be fiar i had been on the spray! ha ha , i reckon it would do 0-60 in about 5.5- 6 secs... I took so much weight out of it, probably near 100kg....

Just my little story....
