Any ideas where I can buy this oil in Aberdeen area? Tried usual suspects, Autosave, Halfords, Checkpoint all to no avail. Can probably get shipped from Opie Oils. 0W40 readily available but not the 15W50. Thanks in advance, Neil

Have you tried Autoparts in Inverurie? They have quite a good stock of oils.

Halfords do occasionally have it - probably better through Hex.

There is a guy in area sells on e-bay - I have used him a few times and he delivers fast, good value too. Checked current e-bay list, no Mobil 1 15-50 but he has Silkolene Pro R which is probably better

Gave Autoparts a call, they only have 0W40. Thanks Richard, will give Tony a call on Monday, what oil do you use? I think Bob uses the Valvoline stuff too. Neil

Motul 300v (Competition) 15w/50 is another excellent oil, though it generally only is available Mail Order. Opie Oils and AS Performance both sell it it a reasonable price though. The Silkolene Pro stuff is also very good - both have a high ester content or something like that.

It was recommended to me by a technician who used to work for the TWR Racing team. They use to get their oil lab analysed after every race/testing session, and tried most performance oils available. Motul consistantly gave the best results, suffering the least degradation over race distances and retaining it's viscosity/film strength at high temps. Many of the WRC teams, including Subaru use this oil in their WRC cars - though it does tend to get changed every few stages...

Thanks John for the info. Think I will stick to the 15W50 Mobil 1. That was recommended by Hexham and was used at last major service. Handbook states 0W40 - ran Tuscan on that but was advised too thin for Speed 6 engine. Neil

Try a different branch of halfrauds, they usually have it.
