I was wondering what the bottom line costs are for someone running a 280 Tasmin (Class C?) to enter the Tuscan Challenge?

Would like figures for both single races and full season if you would be so kind??

Might try in the not too distant future...once the sheds up and running

There's been some discussion on costs on the "DL1's" thread http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
- I know is not the obvious thread to find such info but I'll take the blame for that.

Probably not much difference in costs between the classes I would think apart from maybe tyres ?

Good luck !

There can be a very significant difference in costs - for example, a pair of brake discs and set of pads for the 6 pot fronts on a Tuscan Challenge will cost you upwards of £800 plus VAT. I'll wager the front brakes on a Tasmin are a fraction of that. The rose joints on a TC car cost over £2,000 to renew on the whole car.....

The basic rule is the faster the car is the more it will cost to run

We work on 500-1000 per weekend for the Tuscan at a race meeting and 500 quid evey time it comes out of the trailer...( i.e track day)

I dont see how you can race anything on less than 500 quid a go. unless they have free entry....

In theory The Tasmin should cost less in servicing and repairs and be easier on things like brakes and tyres, but If Im honest I dont notice much difference there between my old taz and my tuscan, I've always been fairly easy on things like brakes compaired to some, and dont also my tuscan is essentially a de-tuned car running 100bhp or so below its design power. Put that extra power back and I would expect to see more brakes/gearbox/driveshaft/bearing/tyre usage

You can spend a lot more that we do, but you'd probably struggle to spend much less.

So far the Min basic's are. (as far as I can remember)
BRSCC Race Membership £150
Series Registration Fee £160
Race Licence Pack £50
Race Licence £250 - $360 - $5000 (Just the test - one day test - 5 day package)
Set of Dunlop tyres. £400- £800 S/H - New (your need at least 2 sets for a full season) (you can run Dunlop road tyres also, so may be a cheaper option)
Entry Fee's £300 - £400 Aprox per race
Race Fuel and fluids £100 Aprox per race
Travel and accomodation costs etc.

Your also need a
Valid Roll cage. £800 - £1600
A in-date Harness £200 - 500
A valid Helmet £150 - £500
Correct clothing £300 - £1000
A Valid fire system £200 - 500
A Race Battery and Cut-out system £100-£300

Plus any other mods to the car to make it conform to the blue book.
(If its been previously raced then it should have most of these)
