I've seen some Mintex grooved brake discs and pads for the Focus (fronts) as a set a a cheapish price and just wondered if they were any good. I will proably get a set of EBC greenstuff pads anyway to reduce brake dust and have a bit better pad on, but just wondered if std mintex are any good or should I leave well alone?
Any feedback appreciated.

Cheers

Stick to Ford OEM stuff, or Mintex all round.

I've tried various things over the years, and come to the above conclusion. Just ordered Mintex all round to replace the appalling EBC junk that's on the ST at the moment.

I purchased them through http://www.mintex.azcarparts.co.uk/ and must admit I was impressed. Cheap prices and quick delivery (I have no connection with the above website BTW).

Thanks for the advice. Just seen this BTW, forgot about it, the car was away being repaired for a fairly minor dent.

I agree with Podie, the only set of pads I've ever had disentegrate on my were Greenstuff with less than 1000miles on them on my first Focus. They weren't that great before they broke apart either! I found Ferrodo ones from Halfords to be pretty good.

Standard ford discs do seem to have issues with cooling though, so grooved and/or drilled ones are a worthwhile uprgade. I had some Brembo Max grooved discs with Ferrodo pads, and they didn't warp and gave good performance, whereas a couple of sets of Ford discs I had warped very quickly if you used them hard.
