Found this looks pretty impressive Mazda Furia:
"With a name that translates to “sound of the wind” and a slogan that reads “Soul of a Sports Car”, the Mazda Furai Concept has built itself up to be something special even before you have seen it. But only when you see this beauty in person can you truly appreciate how the Nagare design language has developed. The purpose of this vehicle is to bridge the gap between the single-purpose racecars and street-legal performance models(supercars).
Under the bonnet (so to speak) you will find the 450-horsepower RENESIS-based R20B three-rotor rotary engine tuned to operate on 100% ethanol and the chassis comes straight from the Courage C65 which raced in the American Le Mans Series in 2005 & 2006.
The design lines of this concept are intended to be the basis of future production models, but unfortunately Mazda has categorically stated this concept will not make it to the production line."

Think the designers have been watching too much BSG.....
You say that like it's a bad thing!Honestly it's more like the kind of thing you'd expect from Bugatti etc rather than Mazda. Just a huge shame they're not the kind of manufacturer who would make something like that.
Now where to I get a Renesis R20B for my RX8...?
The 20B was a twin turbo'd 3 rotor version of the 13B sold in the Cosmo in Japan.

Is this meant to be suggestive of a return to sports prototype racing?
Wouldn't have thought so - the team that were running a rotary in the US (I forget the name of the team) switched to a 4 pot turbo in 07 because the restrictions on the rotary make it uncompetitive. Edited by anonymous-user on Wednesday 16th January 12:02
