Been looking after a 3.2 Carrera for a mate for the past couple of years. Had various work done on his behlaf when needed, eg servicing etc. Giving it back today and just sorting through the paperwork to give to him.

Been taking it to an Indie that comes with recommendations in London. Looking at the service invoice from May 2007, there was a huge amount of charges as they said that the right hand camshaft chain was excessively rattly. Invoice states:

Remove engine, remove rear silencer and other parts to check right hand camshaft chain.

Apparently the chain guide was misaligned.

All OK, however.... I took it in for a new rear silencer a few months later. They could not remove the rear silencer, had huge problems, it was all rusted on, they had to end up cutting so much of the exhaust off ended up replacing the the rear silencer, pre silencer and corssover pipes. I watched them carry the work out so know this bit was true.

If they couldn't remove the rear silencer to put a new one on, how the hell did they remove and refit it to take the engine out as per their description of work on the service invoice??

Hmmmm... think I need to have words.
