Heads up - X308 Corrosion problem
Discussion
There's a reinforcing plate spreading the load from the front subframe V mounting into the body. It's the one visible behing the front shockabsorber.
On mine and another car reported recently it looks like this plate has been badly welded at the factory and water has penetrated behind it and started corrosion. The nature of the corrosion behind the plate means it's not visible until quite well advanced.
If left this could get bad enough to fail a MOT, by which stage a repair may even mean having to remove the front subframe which is very bad news indeed.
I've hopefully caught mine and treated it in time by grinding out the rust and saturating it with Waxoyl. I found quite a bit of lighter surface corrosion underneath in other places too and ended up treating the whole car.
Could be worth a look on your 308 to make sure it's OK, or if not treating it before it gets too bad.

Never saw it on my X300. Damm..somtimes I really miss that car....
Looks like it's a individual X308 vehicle build qualiy problem rather than a design fault, but it's easy enough to check.
Whip the front wheels off and have a look above the V mount behind the shock.
I noticed mine had a problem - only on the OS 'tho, NS is OK - because the whole area had bulged slightly and was weeping red rusty stains through the underseal.
Bloody Jaguars - Don't you just love to hate them somtimes?
