The exhaust system on my Chimaera has been messed around with so much over the years (to accomodate a dry sump for one thing) that I can't remember what the standard pipe looked like. I'm particularly interested in the pipe that runs past the sump. Is this a solid piece of pipe or is it a flexi pipe?

Does anyone have any pictures to hand?

Cheers

Its a solid piece. Haven't any pictures to hand though. Runs down the nearside of the sump. From the front of the sump to the back of the car it is one piece.

Thanks for that. I guess we'll have to check out the plate around the silencer again as it must be this causing the vibration.

What sort of vibration are you getting???, Have you had the silencer box modified at all??, If you make it stariaght through without putting the cladding back in it will vibrate.

The exhaust system is completely standard - no baffles removed, I personally don't like the 'American V8' sound this produces. The car is de-catted though, but there was no vibration when the car had it's 5.1litre motor fitted. It's now converted back to 4.0litre with a different cam, lightened flywheel and Link engine management (ignition and fuel).

I've converted it back with a view to selling and purchasing an Ultima as I can't import newer TVRs into NZ.

The 5.1 engine has Group 'A' heads (alternative casting) steel crank and rods, forged pistons, one-piece rings, lots of Cosworth parts, venolia flywheel etc etc. It's a complete monster but is going to be rebuilt with the intention of putting into an Ultima GTR complete with Vortech supercharger. I've been trying to decide whether to use a Chevvy but given the weight of the American V8 I think a lazy 450+bhp from the Rover will be more cost effective than having to spend 15,000GBP+ to get the equiv.

We're going to have a play with the connecting plate below the silencer and if that doesn't fix it we may put a piece of flexi-pipe into the exaust to give some more 'give'.

Seems odd that you can import an Ultima but not a TVR!
