Got a 2000 2.5 V6 TDI passat thats failing to start, 124k miles and the garage thinks its the injector pump, the engine just died at 60mph in 4th and hasnt started since, anyone with any experiance give an opinion on what it could be?

Cheers

When you turn the key does anything happen at all?

I'm thinking either
- loose battery connection
- Broken Cam belt

The injector pump control units do fail. Causing not start etc.

It will show up on as a fault code, so you need to scan the engine fault codes before you do anything.

You will need a new or exchange pump unit. Pumps are not cheap iro £500 exchange. I have just finished one for a customer on a 2.5 A4.

We have a renualt van at work it cut out on the motorway, no way would it restart ended up being towed back, we where told by the breakdown people it was the fuel pump ok so we tested it, no,it was working but still not starting, after all this to trying to start the battery as you would expect went flat so we charged it up, when we refitted it the van started as if nothing had been wrong has worked ever since .............
