originals now very rare and so expensive.

You can fit kia pride lenses or BMW E30 lenses to your existing indicators. I fitted kia ones:

They look like this:

You will have to do a bit of digging but there are lots of past threads on these indicators. I fitted mine with BMW E30 lenses, my car is dark BRG and the lightly smoked ones look excellent . Email me on greymrj@btinternet.com and I will send you some pics (they are on Photobucket but I cannot link to the site at the moment for some reason). There are lots of lenses on ebay at the moment, and you can get clear, smoked or orange. I strongly suggest you look back at the detailed threads which give full details of any fitting issues, I posted details of how I fitted mine. There is also advice there about alternative bulb holders if yours are corroded.

Hi MINI79, I have just discovered that if you do a search (using the search option at the top of this page) by my forum ID, and look on the threads for late April/early May you should find all you need, including links to pics.

Fitted some Nissan Terrano II front indicators - they are the exact size to fit into hole in the bumper. Only needed minor mod to electrical connections and at only £10 incl P&P a bargain. I can dig out the part numbers if anyone is interested.

Guess I will keep my new pair of originals for the future or sell on e:bay to fund my retirement!!

HI there, that is interesting, not a common vehicle but presumably dealer support is good. I'm sorted with BMW bits but I would be interested to know more for the record. I presume from your comment about electrical connections that you were able to fit the whole light assembly. Those of us who have used Kia or BMW have used lenses only. I found the bulb holders were also bad and had to fit Toyota ones but the possibility that the whole Nissan unit would fit might well be attractive to other S owners. Dont suppose you have a picture of the units before fitting or anything like that do you?

jls,

Part numbers would be good - also suggest you email the alternative parts list and get them added in the comments box for future owners.

I will try and find the boxes with part numbers at the weekend andthen post part numbers. I think the Terrano lenses are the same as the Ford Maverick.

Em.. I think you'll find that this was first mentioned almost a year ago, by.... erm.... ME!

It's good to know that the whole unit fits though, not just the lens.

FWIW, I think that the Kia ones, the BMW E30 ones and the Maverick ones all look similar - and better than the originals.

hehe I was waiting for that ...

I bought some of the originals in the stampede a few months ago but you know what? I think the BMW/Kia/maverick ones do look better, and then theres the fact that my old original ones are shaved down (by removing the cracked flange - which IMHO makes the whole thing look too big) and they look OK as they are...
I'll keep the originals boxed for now as my pension fund seems to have slumped again, and maybe cash them in later... wink

Yep totally copy that!
Although I think we have to give John a little credit for putting some money into it - after all they may not have fitted - wasn't it all just hoping & thinking it would fit before this? Shoot me if I'm wrong.

Looking through the pics I have to say TVRGIT's slighty clearer / brighter style Kia lens I think is my favourite.

I think I must have got some of the last ones from a DAF dealer at £7 odd each in the summer. I have 3 perfect lenses (2 of them brand new) and one slightly cracked one. Probably a better investment than property at the moment!

If you remember in the summer I had a long torturous route to find the original manufacturer - which I did. I didn't get chance to do anything with the info so I passed it on to Adrian Venn who I know has been to their factory to see them - though I still don't think the mould has turned up yet.

Sorry Chris, but from the old thread...

"I reckon its the same as the Maverick one in Tvrgit's link. and that will be a fit-in not an overlap as he says. pity as they are still available, and pricey though at £21+ but at least it comes with the reflector and bulb holder and is not just a lens like the Kia"

No I think you're right. I had measured up a Maverick lens at a car show (using the edge of a piece of paper to mark the dimensions on) and compared that with mine, so I was pretty sure that the lens / screw holes etc were the same - but it's handy to know that the whole unit fits.

The Kia lenses are only £9 a pair though - and I think that even the whole unit from Kia are less than a tenner each. I don't know if they fit into the bumper - I think somebody tried it and thought that they did

Yes you are right I cannot claim the credit as I did see on this forum some time ago that they looked as though they might fit. Not sure anyone had tried them though. Anyway its a good team effort and we have another option for the future.
