I'll be helping the Zen team when i get the time again this year, it worked out well last year as the dates didnt clash with my work race engineering comitments, i dont know yet if the same will apply this year though.
It should be a great season again, there are a lot of teams upping their game over the winter period, so the times should continue to tumble.

looks interesting, seems to be just a sprint but dressed up a bit different with some marketing for Toyo designed to appeal to the modified car scene... not a fan of jap cars, was brought up on the chapman principles of aerodynamics and engineering so would love to see how something like an Caterham R500 would show up the Evos so will be keeping an eye on Gugelimi in the Elise!

Just look at last years results and you will see how Steve faired.
Steve's Elise has a Audi turbo engine in it, a normal NA car wouldnt stand a chance against the top Japanese cars.
check out some of the times in the Castle Combe Special GTs versus their saloon series. The norris designs 700hp odd evo isn't as quick as you'd think around the circuit....Steve's Elise has a Audi turbo engine in it, a normal NA car wouldnt stand a chance against the top Japanese cars.
As below, can someone explain how timeattack is different to sprinting? Ta.

as john would comment, there is no room for driving other than 100% at every time attack round, and unfortunately that sometimes causes failures, which simon had aplenty last year, be assured that car is very very quick and simon is no slouch behind the wheel, on a seperate note ta 2008 is shaping up to be an awesome spectacle, im gutted that i wont be at round 1 due to being at brands for round 1 of bsb 2008 but assured ill be along to every other event that doesnt clash..............
oh and john, good luck for this year, hope you keep the title, and also good luck to all the other lucky lucky ph'ers who are entered in all classes!!!!!!!

Thanks Craig.
The car Simon Norris used in his Castle Combe races wasnt the same as his Time Attack car, it's probably half as quick. The Time Attack cars are seriously rapid pieces of kit with some probably having over 1000BHP this year.
Zen are building a completely new car, which is going together right now, it's significantly diferent to last years car which was pretty conventional really, it should be a good step forward. The trip to Japan was well worthwhile just to see how far the top TA cars had taken things, they are more GT than road car.
This year i'll be giving the Zen Team a hand when i can, unfortunately work looks like it will clash a few times which will prevent me being there at all the rounds, but they have it sussed now to do the business without me really.
It looks like i'll also be driving an EVO 9 RS Sprint in the Pro series at two rounds this year, if the car is ready in time i'll be giving it a run at Donington. It wont have the power of the big boys to start with, but if we can get the car handling well it should be a midfield runner hopefully, with more to come later.
Best of luck Guy, you will really enjoy the cars and the series, it's a great atmosphere between the teams and will give you a great challenge to compete with the front runners. One things these cars arnt, is boring to drive!

Many thanks, I'm really looking forward to it. I've heard there is a great friendly atmosphere at the events which is hard to find at race meetings these days! Not long to go now, will your car be ready in time?
Guy
I hope so, times tight with the other work load the guys have to deal with so it's going to take some long days. The Zen car should be up and running a bit easier as most of the groundwork was done before the shell went off for painting, so it's an assembly job really. Still lots to do but they seem on top of everything.
It's a really friendly atmosphere at the events and the drivers are all sensible on track, you'll have to try damn hard to be in the top 10 this year i expect, it's definately a challenge worth giving your best to. Driving on road tyres with that sort of power is the real challenge, although they have a lot of grip they are no slick so you will have to drive the thing.
