Audi TT Stage 3 - Reduce exhaust noise for trackdays
Discussion
Hi
Awesome have recently fitted APR's Stage 3 kit on my Audi TT 1.8T and it is brilliant. It put out around 380bhp on the dyno and the 'on road' performance is stunning!! I can't wait to get out on track with it, and here is my issue - I'm running APR's 3" race exhaust at the moment which regularly gives a 98 - 100 dB reading at trackdays, and some of the tracks I'm planning to visit this year run 96 dB limits, so I need to reduce the noise without losing power.
After speaking with both Awesome & Pipewerx my current plan is to replace the APR zorst with another quieter catback system. Does anyone out there have any experiences of running this power (Stage 3, IHI, etc..) through other exhaust systems or ways I might reliably reduce noise on the APR system?? Would be interested in any input before I part with any dollars...
Thanks

Well don't go changing anything if you are heading down to Snetterton for
the German Car Track day www.germantrack.com that event is 105 Db at 2/3 revs
sounds like it is going to be a cracker....... both the car and track day

Already booked into Snett event
Will be looking to reduce noise by about 5dB fairly soon though, hopefully without power loss.

Not had it weighed yet, as have removed lots from it (electric seats, air con, carpets, stereo) so hopefully quite a bit lighter than standard too!!
Gears are standard ratio and it's pretty manic in the first 3 gears, but hoping it'll be OK for proper circuit work where expect to be mostly in 4th and 5th. The torque & power delivery is really linear and smooth so it just feels like a mighty powerful standard car!! Can't wait.....
