Hi

Need to do something about the boot stay on my S2. The current one keeps jamming and is coming loose from it's fixings. It has the mechanical boot release and the sliding metal stay.

Where can I get a replacements?
Are there any other options (gas strut)? How easy are they to fit?
Any idea how much they cost?

Thanks

Colin

There was a threasd on here last year, Gas Struts are about £30, it's about number 9 on my wish list behind several other more expensive items.

Do a search and you should find the thread.

Stabilus Gas Struts are listed on the spare parts list at around £20 plus vat, also a company called Gas Struts Engineering make them.
I recall contacting them several months ago but didn't go for them for some reason, I think it was they were too long or something was too difficult to follow on the brochure. However, in the end I replaced mine with a short length of aluminium rod (B&Q), bent the end at right angles, drilled a hole and put a split pin in using the original bracket on the boot sill. On the underside of the bonnet I fitted a "stop" block for it to rest against when open - perfect no more troubles.
