As some of you mite know ive recently got a welder and i intend to teach myself. Yesterday i went up to a friends garage for some free body work and a crash course in welding on a big ass gas welder (this thing was bigger than me.

i done all the labour which intailed removing the rotton rear valence, he sent me to work with an air chizle. things were looking up until i noticed the seam that marries up with the valence broke away in a few places, the floor became loose in 1 section so a bit more welding needed. i cleaned her up with the grinder and clamped the valence into place then Andy welded it on, unfortunatly he got called out on a brake down so he had to shut up shop and couldnt weld the floor.

while he was getting washed up he let me play with the welder, with only a 30 second lesson off Andy i was off, he gave me a peace of angle iron and a flat piece of steel to buttweld together. when he returned he seemed well impressed he put it in a vice and started belting it with a lump hammer and to my suprise it didnt budge i must be a naural. the only problem is, i was welding in a t-shirt which was (is) a bad move because the arch of the welder burnt my left bicep and fore arm (arch arm), my arm is lobster red and very sore, its like major sun burn. BE WARNED WEAR LONG SLEEVES....neale....

Been there done that.
take not that there are great differences in the approach between gas and electric welding. Get lessons off a professional is a good idea.

By the way it's Arc welder as you weld when an electric ARC flashes from the rod to the metal
a mite is a tiny insect that tends to be parasitic
it is rotten not rotton
and you missed the t out of natural

Sorry, in pedantic mode....
