THINK MY CLUTCH IS DIEING

hi guys just wondering how to diagnose a dieing clutch, it is very high i only need to press down about 1"- 2" and it will start to disengage and i do get a slight smell of what i think is clutch burn and even more so when i turn the heater on. Does this sound like it needs replacing? thanx agen..neale..

best way to tell is start the car and put the hand brake on and stick it in 4th and let the clutch out with about 1500revs if it doesn't stall (or drag the car along) your clutch is on it's way out.
