Planning a special weekend away for the first weekend in March for the GF and I for her birthday. Just had a quick google but most of the hotels are coming in at £100+ with breakfast. Last time we stayed at the City/Barbican as it appeared good value but by the time we'd payed for a few cabs I don't think we'd made any saving. Can anyone suggest anywhere they'd recommend?

Tottenham Court Road ish would be nice, or anywhere up West especially if they have parking there or nearby (planning on dumping the car and not using it once we get there)

could try top secret hotels

http://www.lastminute.com/site/travel/hotels/deals...

have friends who have used and got a really great deal at a cracking hotel, and have one who now will not do anything else (like me he travels around UK a lot and is staying in hotels on a weekly basis), bit too risky for me and I use Late rooms

If you go for Top Secret Hotels you have to be prepared to not know what hotel until you have booked.

Holborn Grange is good, as are the Radisson hotels in Bloomsbury.
