S in Lux / France plus owners handbook
Discussion
Hi There
Recent good weather has made driving my S1 (I think it's an S1, see below!) here and in France great fun day and night. Possibly the best part has been seeing the sleepy villages in Bourgone come to life (driving through previously in my girlfriends Merc CLK there was little sign of life, the rumble of the S seems to wake the locals up!).
My erious question is where can I get an S1 owners handbook. Bought the car in February from a guy who'd owned it since 94. Looking at the owners handbook though it refers to a 2933cc engine whereas mine is a 2792cc. this combined with the chassis number of SA9DS28P5JB019840 makes me think that it is an S1 (unless I'm really dim). First registered 16 09 1988.
Anyone got any ideas?
PS anyone travelling through Lux is welcome to a blast....

It's an S 1.5.... The mutant stage between an S1 and an S2. The TVRCC might have a copy or alternatively the bible will be an even bigger help.

Thanks Steve
pleased to know I have a mutant, does this mean that there were even fewer of these than the standard S1?
I can't order the book from my computer at work and don't have internet at home so need to wait until I can (finally) access someone's internet!
Are you, by any chance, the wuthor of the bible (only cos I saw you were shpub and thought steve and h might mean heath)

I wouldn't call it a mutant.. there is just no definite line between the s1 and s2.. the "upgrades" are: 2.9 engine over 2.8, OZ 7 spoke alloys, electric windows, a bit of silver trim on the bumper tops, and a slightly different rear trailing arm.
All of this things came in in different stages, so a 1.5 has a mixture of all of the above, just not all of them at once. Normally anything with a 2.9l engine and without the silver trim and/or electric windows is a 1.5, as the wheels of course can be changed.
As for rare well the Bible gives you production figures of 1's and 2's.. her are mine and Johno's 1.5's:
Cheers
Matt
