Anyone know where I can get this done, Mother has lost the Master Key for her Rav4.
Toyota were kind enough to sell us another key for £200, but when we came in to get it reprogrammed they advised us it would be a 4 figure sum as everything needed to be replaced if they didn't have the master key to work from. A search revealed a guy on and old forum here had it done for a couple of hundered pounds, but he found someone in London.

Whilst it would be cheaper to drive to London and back to get it done, I'm looking for somewhere nearer home, ie Aberdeen/Edinburgh/Glasgow/Inverness.

Any help much appreciated.

Where are you? And what age is the Rav? I can help you out in 3 of your 4 chosen locations? But as to what is involved depends on the age and model of car. Is it a remote key? Does your mother have one or two keys left?

Nearest City is Aberdeen - but other locations could coincide with family visits.
2003 Rav4.

The only working key we have is not the remote locking key, but opens the doors individually and starts the car.

We had a tag with the key's number on it (and original purchase invoice for vehicle), so ordered and received a key which fit's the locks and ignition, this manages to open doors manually, but does not start the car or operate the remote central locking.

I am in Aberdeen. I have done a few Rav 4's but they have always been a lost key situation. I will look up my notes when in work tommorow and see what I can do for you.
The only downside you might have is that we might have to remove the immobiliser e.c.u. to work on it which would mean downtime on the vehicle. You will find that toyota wanted to replace your ecu and not reset it! Is the key that you have grey?

The key we have is grey (is this good or bad?)
Dowtime of a day or two is not an issue as long as we can get this resolved.
If you could help that would be great, let me know tomorrow & I'll mail you a contact number.

Key colour is 50/50 until I check my notes as there are various key programming procedures for toyotas and I cant for the life of me remember them all. Downtime is generally 3-4 working days if I need to sent the box away!. But even buying a new box from toyota would be a cheaper option than doing it the Arnold Clark way. I will be intouch tommorow hopefuly with some good news for you

Cheers
