Hi Guys,

just changed laptops from a MacBook to a Dell. I spent over £1k on a really high spec Dell laptop. Problem is i work from home and the speed of the internet on my dell is not as quick as it was on my Macbook. In fact its much slower.

Any reason for this or anything i can do about it ?? I have BT Broadband

I have both a mac and a Dell - the internet speed is fairly similar on both (mac firefox vs pc ie7)

Do you have anything different, for example security settings?

I have no real security settings on the mac, but i do have Kaspersky Anti Virus on the dell. I was thinking that maybe its Vista ???

Ok so i know that its the Kaspersky Anti Virus that is making my computer a lot slower and seriously slow on getting internet pages up.

The guy told me this was the best Anti Virus for not slowing down computer and using up memory. So i either not have any protection and get a fast laptop or use the protection and get frustrated with speed.

I use AVG, it seems pretty good so far. I had previously been using Norton but got a bit tired of it being so intrusive, and it's large memory footprint.

I barely notice AVG running now smile
