I was wondering if anyone could help?

Years ago I looked into a driving school, I think called HPC, and at the time it offered courses based over the seasons and I think offered driver training at Millbrook. It was quite expensive but seemed perfect as it required driving at night, different roads, different times of year etc.

I have done all the usual stuff, single seats, rally, advanced courses with ex police drivers, commentary etc. but I now want to go further. Does anyone know if this course still exists or if there are any courses still like this in the country?

Thanks

Thanks lord, I followed the link and have seen this before but (maybe me being an idiot!) the website is not too clear on costs, course content and seems more of a club than a course? There is an other website also with the same logo.

In short what is the best most advanced course in the UK?

The Club doesn't run courses - it sets the standards required of entry-level membership and sanctions the trainers that provides the courses. Cost of an entry course is around £1000, but you can't necessarily expect to turn up and be considered good enough to do the entry course and extra training may be required. It's probably best to ring one of the 'gatekeeper' and have a chat.

Dave, thanks for that. Would you know why there are two websites trading under the banner of HPC? I will try to get in touch with the HPC I have been referred to.

Just to amend above comment: There is an HPC - High Performance Club and an HPC - High Performance Course and they both have the same logo....eh?

It's all a little gray. The original HPC course was run by BSM. The instructor in the early 80s span it out into a separate company when BSM lost interest. That company went bust and was resurrected. That was then sold on to the current owner, who has nothing to do with the Club. The use of the logo is also a grey area, but as they say 'the best way to make a small fortune is start with a big one and employ a lawyer'

Hi Xris.

The original High Performance Course I think your refering to is still available. Hunt down a chap called John Lyon. These days I don't think he is associated with the HPC club but you can still get training from John. If you go the the clubs website, I'm sure you will find other references to training also.

Pick your trainer and go and enjoy.

My only suggestion is to do a thorough search for HPC on this forum. You might find some interesting comments.
