~250 miles of mostly motorways. I'm well used to these journeys but How's about you advanced drivers tell me just one single tip that is most likely to save me getting involved in a wreck.

Maintain a nice big bubble of safety around your car and don't let anyone encroach on it. Space management is the key.

Take a break every two hours, whether you think you need it or not.

+1

Always make sure you have an "escape route" should the idiot next to you choose to do something stupid...and assume with 100% confidence that at some point one will do something utterly UTTERLY stupid.

Assuming you are taking the car in your profile I`d say watch out for cars that will be travelling faster than you can and move over in plenty of time to allow them to pass safely. wink

lol. Good advice, but I don't all that slowly like most of the other 911 drivers I see do. Anyhow I was in the peugeot diesel and all went without incident.

The space around me advice seemed to chime.

Thanks!

When a car in lane 1 or 2 is closing in on the car in front of them be prepared to change lane in good time as they may pull into your safe space. Also be prepared for drivers changing lane and not indicating, be aware of your blind spots when changing lanes and do a shoulder safety check. I too would also take a break every two hours even if I didn't think I needed one.

Presume every other road user is a complete tool and drive accordingly.

So how come nobody suggested the technique of swerving from side-to-side and pushing in the clutch so as to avoid having to dab the "breaks" quite so often? Hmmm? I feel cheated.
