Hey, was having a play with joomla. It was through one of those free portals. What re the drawbacks to them. I take it they are unreliable or whatever? Im assuming also you couldnt point a domain name at them?

Like anything else, you get the features and fuctionality you pay for..

You can get goood hosting from as little as a pint a month.. why risk it?

Ive already got hosting for it, I have a few accounts in a mates resseller plan plan but I just wanted to know more about these portals?

I've used Joomla (1.5) for over 10 sites in the past couple of months, it's great!

Of course, it's community support only but to be honest with such a big community the support turnaround on their forums is pretty rapid.

Given you've not mentioned any by name, the only real option would be to ask the portals themselves..

but if you have hosting already, just use that.. all the control and non of the risk.
