Need an External Hard Drive.......opinions needed

I am looking for an external hard drive. I have seen some SEAGATE models with 250,500 and 750GB. What are the reliablity opinions of this product ? The last time I used a external hard disk it had so many hardware error issues that I totally gave up using them but this time I need one to store work files.

any advice/tips on products which are good would be much appreciated. I am not looking to spend more than £100 - £120.
