I'm looking to buy a TVR at the moment and have seen a yellow 95P Grif with 39k on the clock for sale in the Medway Towns (Kent). Does anyone know this car or have any advice on easy to see/hear problem signs when I go and look at it? Also the latest thread is talking about Cam replacements, do they generally need replacing around the 40k mark? Any advice is much appreciated.

Yep - Rob will do an 'inspection only' deal for you. He's on 'findasportscar.co.uk'

Well worth it for peace of mind I'd say.

Interior – check for leaks, many seem to suffer a bit but a well looked after one should not leak, look for stains on the carpets and lift the mats have a good smell to see if it is musty, if so it probably leaks and hasn’t been well cared for, oh and check the veneer on the dash it can start to peel. The windscreen can start to de-laminate in the bottom corners. The chassis outriggers can rust badly in the areas behind the wheel arches and under the sills and the wishbones can also rust, basically the powder coating (plastic) peels off like cheap garden furniture – dust & moisture get trapped behind the flaking coating and rust will set it. I guess you can’t really check the cam etc. but the engine will be down on power but then again if it’s your first TVR then it will feel like driving a cruise missile in any case! Good luck Rich…
